Family-run since 2013, we work right across the capital, with SE5 among the areas we attend most. It includes Camberwell.
What we cover in SE5
SE5 includes Camberwell, inside Southwark. We attend both residential and commercial property here, from single blockages to full drainage installations.
Camberwell is Victorian terraces and villas with a high proportion converted into flats, alongside estates and a busy high street. Shared laterals restricted by wipes and fat are the standard finding.
Common causes in SE5
Throughout SE5, the common causes are:
- Wipes and sanitary items caught at a bend
- Paper build-up, especially in an older narrow-bore pan
- An obstruction in the run below, so the pan is the symptom rather than the cause
- An item dropped into the pan stuck in the pan
Signs worth reporting
What you are likely to be seeing in SE5:
- Water sitting in a drain outside long after use
- More than one appliance backing up, rather than a single sink
- Gurgling from a toilet or sink as another appliance drains
- A drain smell outside that worsens after rain
How the visit works
The order matters, so we work it out before we jet:
- Check whether other fittings are draining normally
- Cover the floor and surrounds before any work starts
- Free the obstruction in the pan with the right tool for the blockage
- Move to the stack and the drain outside if the pan is already clear
Before we arrive
In the meantime, a couple of things make a real difference:
- Keep water use to nothing, especially washing machines
- Move children and pets away from the affected area
- Move bins or planters off the inspection covers
- Have your postcode and a description ready so we arrive prepared
Who pays for the repair
A blockage is not automatically your bill. Since 2011, most shared drains and lateral drains in England belong to the water company, so a fault out in the road is not yours to fund. We establish which side of the line the fault sits and tell you plainly, even when that means we are not the ones doing the repair.
What it costs in SE5
A blocked toilet is normally cleared at the fixed £120 plus VAT rate. We never charge for coming out, whatever the time. You know the cost before the engineer picks up a tool.
