We have been clearing drains across London since 2013, and SE1 is inside our core coverage. It includes Southwark, Bermondsey, Borough and Waterloo.
What we cover in SE1
What we take in across SE1 runs across Southwark, Bermondsey, Borough and Waterloo, part of Southwark and Lambeth. As we also attend the adjoining areas, a drain shared between streets is not a problem.
Southwark, Bermondsey and Waterloo combine warehouse conversions, offices and estates on tidal, low-lying ground. Long horizontal waste runs in converted buildings and grease from the high-street food trade dominate the work here.
Common causes in SE1
What actually causes most of the work in SE1 are predictable:
- Grease from the kitchen, which sets on the pipe wall
- Wet wipes, which hold together once flushed
- Roots from nearby planting working into the pipe
- Sand and silt settling where the fall is shallow
Signs worth reporting
What you are likely to be seeing across SE1:
- Water sitting in a drain outside long after use
- More than one appliance backing up, not just one
- Bubbling in the pan when the bath is let out
- Foul odour around a chamber that keeps coming back
How the visit works
Finding the cause comes before clearing it:
- Work through the inspection chambers to find where the flow stops
- Work out which side of the boundary the fault sits
- Clear it with high-pressure jetting at a pressure suited to the pipe
- Run water through every fitting before we finish
Before we arrive
Useful steps before we arrive:
- Keep water use to nothing, particularly appliances on a timer
- Keep people and pets away from any standing waste water
- Move bins or planters off the inspection covers
- Note which fittings are affected for the call
Who pays for the repair
Whose pipe it is matters as much as what is in it. Most pipework beyond your boundary became the water company’s responsibility in 2011, so a fault out in the road is not yours to fund. We work out where the fault is and say so, even where it means there is no job in it for us.
What it costs in SE1
Outside drain clearance is a fixed £144 plus VAT. No call-out fee applies, day or night. The price is confirmed before we start.
