Family-run since 2013, we work right across the capital, and SE10 is well within our patch. That covers Greenwich and Maze Hill.
What we cover in SE10
What we take in across SE10 runs across Greenwich and Maze Hill, within Greenwich. Since we work the surrounding postcodes as well, a drain shared between streets is not a problem.
Greenwich has Georgian and early Victorian terraces near the town centre and newer flats along the river. Conservation-area frontages need care when covers are lifted, and much of the below-ground pipework is original clay.
Common causes in SE10
In SE10, these are the ones that come up again and again:
- Grease from the kitchen, which sets on the pipe wall
- Wet wipes, which hold together in the drain
- Roots from nearby planting finding an open joint
- Soil and grit building up where flow slows
Signs worth reporting
Before you call, it helps to know what you are looking at:
- Water sitting in a drain outside when nothing is running
- More than one appliance backing up, which points at the shared run
- Bubbling in the pan when the bath is let out
- A drain smell outside that worsens after rain
How the visit works
We work to the same order on every visit, so nothing turns into an open-ended bill:
- Open the chambers in order to find where the flow stops
- Establish whether it is your pipe or the water company’s
- Clear it with high-pressure jetting at a pressure suited to the pipe
- Flush the line and test each fitting before we finish
Before we arrive
Worth doing while you wait:
- Stop using water in the property, particularly appliances on a timer
- Keep people and pets away from any standing waste water
- Move bins or planters off the inspection covers
- Jot down what is draining and what is not so we arrive prepared
Who pays for the repair
Whose pipe it is matters as much as what is in it. Most pipework beyond your boundary became the water company’s responsibility in 2011, which means a fault beyond your boundary is theirs to fix. We work out where the fault is and say so, even when that means we are not the ones doing the repair.
What it costs in SE10
Outside drain clearance is a fixed £144 plus VAT. Prices are fixed rather than hourly, so nothing changes once we are on site.
