We have been clearing drains across London since 2013, with E9 among the areas we attend most. That covers Homerton, Hackney Wick and Victoria Park.
What we cover in E9
E9 covers Homerton, Hackney Wick and Victoria Park, inside Hackney. Homes, flats and commercial premises are all covered, whatever the size of the job.
Homerton and Hackney Wick pair Victorian streets with warehouse conversions and newer flats. Converted buildings often route drainage through communal areas, so access has to be arranged with the building.
Common causes in E9
The recurring problems in E9 are much the same year to year:
- Sewage escaping at ground level
- Nothing draining anywhere in the property
- Waste rising into a downstairs bathroom
- Flooding after a storm
Signs worth reporting
What to tell us on the call:
- Standing water in a yard gully when nothing is running
- Several fittings draining slowly at once, which points at the shared run
- Bubbling in the pan as another appliance drains
- A sour smell near the gully that keeps coming back
How the visit works
This is how a visit works:
- We tell you when we will actually be there
- Hold off on washing machines and dishwashers
- The aim is to finish it on the first attendance
- We are straight about whether clearing is enough
Before we arrive
While you wait for us, these few things genuinely help:
- Stop using water in the property, including the washing machine and dishwasher
- Keep people and pets away from any standing waste water
- Move bins or planters off the inspection covers
- Jot down what is draining and what is not for the call
Who pays for the repair
A blockage is not automatically your bill. Most pipework beyond your boundary became the water company’s responsibility in 2011, and a defect on the shared run is not your cost. We identify the location and are straight with you about it, even when that means we are not the ones doing the repair.
What it costs in E9
Emergency attendance starts at a fixed £120 plus VAT, and we never charge for coming out. You get a fixed figure rather than a running clock, so a difficult job in E9 does not become an expensive surprise.
