We are a family-run firm covering London since 2013, with EC3 among the areas we attend most. It includes Aldgate, Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill.
What we cover in EC3
Our coverage of EC3 spans Aldgate, Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill, part of City of London. Because we cover the neighbouring postcodes too, we can deal with both ends of a shared run.
Aldgate and Fenchurch Street combine modern towers with older buildings connected into Victorian sewers. The towers rely on pumped systems and shared stacks, while the older premises still drain by gravity through pipework that predates them.
Common causes in EC3
Most of what we attend in EC3 traces back to a handful of causes:
- A restriction that has been forming for months, finished off by one heavy load
- A defect in the pipe itself collecting everything that passes
- A shared run affecting several properties
- Rainfall filling a combined system
Signs worth reporting
What to tell us on the call:
- Standing water in a yard gully long after use
- More than one appliance backing up, not just one
- A glugging noise from a plughole as another appliance drains
- Foul odour around a chamber that keeps coming back
How the visit works
We work to the same order on every visit, which is how we can quote a fixed price:
- Stop further discharge into the blocked run on arrival
- Trace the restriction by working through the chambers
- Clear the line with whichever method suits the cause
- Explain the cause and whether the pipe needs more than clearing
Before we arrive
What to do before we get there:
- Keep water use to nothing, including the washing machine and dishwasher
- Keep people and pets away from any standing waste water
- Clear access to the drain covers if you can
- Note which fittings are affected so we arrive prepared
Who pays for the repair
Not every blockage is yours to pay for. Most pipework beyond your boundary became the water company’s responsibility in 2011, which means a fault beyond your boundary is theirs to fix. We establish which side of the line the fault sits and tell you plainly, including when the answer is that you should call Thames Water instead.
What it costs in EC3
Drain unblocking starts at a fixed £120 plus VAT, with no call-out charge at any hour. We never charge for coming out, whatever the time. You get the figure before any work begins.
