We are a family-run firm covering London since 2013, with EC3 among the areas we attend most. The postcode takes in Aldgate, Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill.
What we cover in EC3
EC3 takes in Aldgate, Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill, in the London Borough of City of London. We attend both residential and commercial property here, from a slow sink to a complete system.
Aldgate and Fenchurch Street combine modern towers with older buildings connected into Victorian sewers. The towers rely on pumped systems and shared stacks, while the older premises still drain by gravity through pipework that predates them.
Common causes in EC3
The causes we see most often in EC3 are predictable:
- Waste water rising from a manhole
- Nothing draining anywhere in the property
- Foul water backing into a ground-floor shower or bath
- Flooding after a storm
Signs worth reporting
Before you call, it helps to know what you are looking at:
- Water standing in an outside gully when nothing is running
- Several fittings draining slowly at once, which points at the shared run
- Bubbling in the pan as another appliance drains
- A sour smell near the gully that keeps coming back
How the visit works
Finding the cause comes before clearing it:
- We tell you when we will actually be there
- Keep water use to nothing until the engineer is with you
- We clear the blockage on the visit wherever possible
- You find out if the pipe itself needs work
Before we arrive
Worth doing while you wait:
- Hold off on taps, showers and appliances, including the washing machine and dishwasher
- Move children and pets away from the affected area
- Move bins or planters off the inspection covers
- Have your postcode and a description ready when you ring
Who pays for the repair
The first question on a shared drain is whose it is. Your own run up to the boundary is your responsibility; past the boundary it is normally Thames Water. We put that in writing after the visit.
What it costs in EC3
Emergency attendance starts at a fixed £120 plus VAT, and we never charge for coming out. You get a fixed figure rather than a running clock, so nothing changes once we are on site.
