Family-run since 2013, we work right across the capital, with E2 among the areas we attend most. It includes Bethnal Green and Shoreditch.
What we cover in E2
E2 includes Bethnal Green and Shoreditch, inside Tower Hamlets and Hackney. Homes, flats and commercial premises are all covered, from single blockages to full drainage installations.
Bethnal Green and the Shoreditch fringe are Victorian terraces and converted industrial buildings with retro-fitted waste runs. Limited fall in those retro-fitted runs is behind a large share of repeat blockages.
Common causes in E2
What actually causes most of the work in E2 follow a pattern:
- Grease from the kitchen, which solidifies as soon as it cools
- Wet wipes, which do not break down once flushed
- Roots from nearby planting finding an open joint
- Soil and grit settling where the fall is shallow
Signs worth reporting
What you are likely to be seeing around E2:
- Water standing in an outside gully long after use
- Several fittings draining slowly at once, not just one
- A glugging noise from a plughole when the bath is let out
- A sour smell near the gully that is stronger in warm weather
How the visit works
What we do when we get there:
- Work through the inspection chambers to find where the flow stops
- Work out which side of the boundary the fault sits
- Clear the blockage with water jetting at a pressure suited to the pipe
- Prove the flow from every connected appliance before we finish
Before we arrive
While you wait for us, a couple of things make a real difference:
- Keep water use to nothing, especially washing machines
- Move children and pets away from the affected area
- Clear access to the drain covers if you can
- Jot down what is draining and what is not so we arrive prepared
Who pays for the repair
A blockage is not automatically your bill. Most pipework beyond your boundary became the water company’s responsibility in 2011, so a fault out in the road is not yours to fund. We identify the location and are straight with you about it, even when that means we are not the ones doing the repair.
What it costs in E2
Outside drain clearance is a fixed £144 plus VAT. Prices are fixed rather than hourly, so a difficult job in E2 does not become an expensive surprise.
